The exhibit features a working radio studio

Miles Davis, Howlin' Wolf, John Prine, Cheap Trick and Earth, Wind and Fire are making a visit to Springfield. Well, artifacts from the music legends will be on display at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) starting Friday, April 30, anyway. The "State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois" exhibit explores Illinois musicians and their influence on genres including blues, jazz, gospel, punk, hip-hop and rock. The multimedia exhibit will allow guests to watch short videos on various genres of music and use their own cellphones to hear audio from particular artists. The exhibit will also include a working interactive radio studio. "Few states can match Illinois for the breadth of its musical legacy. Illinois artists played huge roles in the blues, gospel and soul. They broke new ground in jazz, took country to places it had never gone before and brought down the house with the sheer power of rock and roll," said Melissa Coultas, acting ALPLM executive director, in a news release. The exhibit runs through January 2022. ALPLM is offering free admission to students through May 31. People who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 can get in free during May and June. The museum asks: Please go to www.PresidentLincoln.Illinois.gov to get tickets before visiting the ALPLM.
