The long-running, popular Artist on the Plaza series has a new name – Artist in the Park – and will move from the Old Capitol Plaza to Union Square Park this year. The move is a result of a partnership between the Springfield Area Arts Council and sponsor Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, according to council executive director Bella Szabo. The move to Union Square Park improves the visibility of the event and will draw in visitors touring the ALPLM. This year's events feature the usual wide range of artists and includes singers, dancers, poets, instrumentalists and more. Leading off tomorrow is Denise La Grassa, a critically acclaimed Chicago singer and songwriter and veteran of past Artist on the Plaza appearances. Other acts on the schedule are Jaden and Tiffani Saunders, Tom Irwin, FOURsquared, Amy Benton, Que, Expressions in the Dark, Dayna's Dance Revolution, Mary Bryant Home Singers, Tebe, Wildwood Strings, Hip-Hop Dance Studio, Cowboy Randy and Square of the Roots. The weekly events will offer seating and include food trucks, lawn games and more.
