The Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra launches a new hour-long “Happy Hour” concert format for its upcoming performances of Pure Passion on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Springfield and on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. Also new will be “Talk Back” sessions with Mr. Willis and the audience following the 7:30 p.m. performances both evenings. Come dance the night away with the dance music of Copland and Golijov along with a little sigh by Elgar!
The passionate playing of the Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra musicians resounds with the opening sigh of Elgar’s Sospiri, followed by the pulsating tango of Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round, and the celebration of the American Pioneer in Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring. Purely a dance mix for everyone to enjoy!
