- complete with Broadway-style vocals, high-powered choreography, and lively instrumentals -- will take Glenwood High School by storm for "The Event," the school's 1st annual show choir competition, Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16.
"The Event" will be held in the Glenwood High School auditorium, 1501 E. Plummer Blvd., Chatham. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 each day. Children age five or younger are free. A full menu of dinner, lunch and snack items will be available in the GHS commons throughout the entire competition.
Coordinated by the Glenwood Choral Boosters and Titan Fever Show Choir, the program will begin with a junior high competition Friday evening, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Unisex choirs will compete Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to noon, with the mixed high school show choirs competing 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The finalists will perform again from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with awards presented at 10 p.m.
Titan Fever, Glenwood High School's award-winning show choir, will perform during "The Event" on Friday, March 15 at 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 16 at 5 p.m. in the GHS auditorium. Other local area choirs performing include Southeast High School's "Sensations," Springfield High School's "In Session," Franklin Middle School's "Fantastic Falcons," and Grant Middle School's "G-Force."
"This event is a wonderful opportunity to see some really amazing singers and dancers, and find out what show choir is all about. It's family entertainment, and it's just a lot of fun," said Jeff Gemar, GHS Vocal Director. "The choral boosters and the Titan Fever kids have worked hard to put together a quality, top-notch competition to showcase some fabulous talent. We invite the community to come out and see what we hope will become a premier Midwest show choir competition."
