Lincoln Land Community College’s Feminist Activist Coalition and LLCC Theatre will present the 8th annual production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” March 22-24 in the lower level of Sangamon Hall South on the LLCC Springfield campus.
Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., with a pre-show by singer/guitarist Josie Lowder beginning at 6:15. Sunday’s performance is at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 with the pre-show beginning at 1:15. A silent auction, featuring art and feminist themed goods and services, will be held prior to each performance.
Tickets are available for $15 each at the LLCC ticket office in Menard Hall, or at the door.
This year, the production is directed by LLCC Theatre student August Roy and produced by Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English. Cast members include Annisa Kumerow, ReBecca Young, Valerie Perrero, Audrey Holmes, Amber Berman, Sarah Kiliman, Angela Case, Brenda Protz and Sara Kilman.
The production is part of the “V-Day College Campaign” to raise awareness of issues related to violence against women and girls around the world. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Prairie Coalition Against Sexual Assault (PCASA), the Sojourn Center and Eve Ensler's V-Day Foundation. Past productions at LLCC have raised more than $10,000 for V-Day and local organizations dedicated to this cause.
