The St. Andrew's Society of Central Illinois will be hosting its annual Robert Burns Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Camelot Banquet Center in Springfield.
The Robert Burns Dinner is held all over the world to honor the great Scottish poet Robert Burns and all things Scottish and Celtic. You do not need to be Scottish to enjoy the pageantry of this gathering of the Celts, which is open to everyone. This is a semi-formal event where you can put on your Celtic finery and the lassies can dazzle the lads.
Social Hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar available, with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m., beginning with the Toast to the Haggis. Exorna, a Celtic band, will be performing after dinner for dancing and entertainment. The St. Andrew's Society Celtic Dancers and Pipe and Drum Band will also be making an appearance.
Cost for the dinner and dance is $25 per person for Society members and $30 per person for non-members, with children under 12 costing $15. Those who wish to attend after dinner for the entertainment only is $10 per ticket.
