This local jazz band has been chosen as 2nd Best Jazz Group in IL Times Reader's Polls, plays Marly's Pub every Friday happy hour, and has also played at Norb Andy's, Caitie Girl's, Lime Street Café and at the Washington Street Jazz Festival.
Sax-playing Singer Frank Trompeter has led Quintet and Quartet versions of his combo since 1993, and performed in 2008 and 2009 at the Port Townsend Jazz Festival, recently took a clinic with Grammy-nominated jazz jazz singer Nnenna Freelon.
Jazz & Etc. Happy Hour: Every Friday the Frank Trompeter Quartet hosts wild after-work jazz set from 6 - 8 pm. The group mixes jazz songs with funk & bebop, reggae and blues and even ska, plus special guests more than once a month and special 16mm "Film Treatments" shows less than once a month, "Film Treatments" are when Trompeter matches up film clips with the songs they play, using an old movie projector and a big screen on stage. The happy hours are free.
