By Cap City
SIU Medical School is going all out for African-American History Month, hosting a plethora of history- and diversity-themed events throughout February at 801 N. Taste African-American foods and soak up culture (12 p.m. Feb. 14 in Pearson Museum), hear UIS associate professor Kamau Kemayo speak about African-American women in history (Feb. 16, 4 p.m. in Dirksen Conference Room), or listen to Marc Nivet, chief diversity officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges, lay out an innovative plan for a more diverse medical workforce (6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in South Auditorium). For more information about African-American History Month programs at SIU, contact Dr. Wesley Robinson-McNeese at 217-545-7334 weekdays.
