SOLAR CITY

By Cap City
There’s something intriguing about solar power – the way it turns sunlight directly into useable electricity without the hassle of steam, fossil fuels or motors. It’s beautifully simple on the surface, yet more complex on the atomic level than most of us can humanly imagine. Luckily, you don’t have to understand how it works to take advantage of City Water, Light and Power’s new Solar Rewards rebate program, which is open to residential and business customers who install solar photovoltaic systems. Every kilowatt generated earns the home or business $1,500, which can provide up to $15,000 in rebates per CWLP account. The rebate is first-come, first-served, and it will only last until funds run out. Applicants must have CWLP electric service and must get pre-approval from CWLP before purchasing equipment. The rebate can be combined with similar state and federal incentives, as well. Rebate applications are available at the CWLP Energy Services Office, 231 S. 6th St., online at cwlp.com, by emailing nrgxprts@cwlp.com or by phone at 789-2070.
