TALK OF THE TOWN

By Cap City
There’s a lot to like about Springfield, and the Citizens Club of Springfield wants the whole world to know it. The Citizens Club is developing a “palm card” extolling the virtues of the capital city – everything from the easy commutes and top-notch hospital care to the nine golf courses and two farmers markets. The goal is for Springfield residents to keep the card in a wallet, purse or pocket for easy access when talking to outsiders about the city we call home. “We want people to know that Springfield is a wonderful place to start a business or move a business,” says Bob Gray, president of the Citizens Club. The changing global economy means every community must “wage a  war” for jobs, Gray says. “Everybody in charge of anything needs to focus on job creation.  The whole city has to be participating, highly coordinated, and working out of the same playbook,” he says. To see a draft copy of the palm card, visit tinyurl.com/84mu4xs. The Citizens Club website is citizensclubofspringfield.org.
