Top-notch visuals

By Anita Stienstra

For almost a quarter century the Springfield Art Association has hosted a fine art fair the third weekend in September on the Edwards Place Historic Home lawn. This year it promises to be just as enchanting as in previous years. Meet 75 artists from Illinois and the nation. See and buy their work. Listen to live music, watch artist demos, take a tour of Edwards Place and find a treasure at the used book sale. Children can produce their own make-and-take crafts, browse the Anna Williams Youth Booth’s funky and affordable creations, or paint a four-inch square that will become part of a giant painting that the SAA will display. If you become a member, or increase your membership during the art fair, you’ll receive a limited edition poster (partially pictured above), only available at the fair, featuring the work of Springfield artists: Gloria Josserand, Phil Ackerman, George King, Ken Pease, Terry Farmer, Felicia Olin, Thom Whalen, Al Shull and Jeff Williams. For more info, visit www.springfieldart.org.
