a day and a wake up

By Tom Irwin

Built around the exciting and refreshing concept of performing original songs as a form of personal expression through group participation, a day and a wake up clearly contain a vision of what a progressive band should be. The rocking quintet not only focuses on original music, they also possess a rather original configuration of band membership. Fronted by Amy Garwood (lead vocals, keyboards), the core group includes the family connection of Connie Carbonell (rhythm guitar, vocals), Aaron Carbonell (lead guitar, some lead vocals) and Dara Carbonell (drums, vocals), along with “Pyro” Bob Williams (bass, vocals). Rooted in classic and alternative rock, the band works hard to establish and maintain interesting rhythmic variations and edgy melodic divergences. The unique sound created is evident at live performances in local venues and past shows at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee and Springfield’s SOHO Music Fest, as well as in studio recordings such as Press (2007) and a recently finished second CD, scheduled for a 2011 late summer release.
