“There are so many hard lines in his face that it becomes a mask of the inner man. His true character only shines out when in an animated conversation, or when telling an amusing tale, of which he is very fond,” Brown wrote, just months before Lincoln would be elected as the 16th president of the United States.

The Abraham Lincoln Association has created a one-stop online database that allows Lincoln enthusiasts to find out what Lincoln was up to on the current date 150 years ago, when the nation was on the verge of civil war.
“President Lincoln: This Day 1860” is accessible by hitting a top hat icon on the association’s main webpage, www.abrahamlincolnassociation.org.
The website also hosts the “Lincoln Log” which provides an account of Lincoln’s daily activities throughout his life, from 1809 to 1865. The Papers of Abraham Lincoln, a project of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, developed both calendars.
