graduationpoem #2

By Jacqueline Jackson

I missed my university’s graduation first time in years but did go to wyatt’s from daycare to kindergarten complete with caps gowns diplomas sealed and ribboned pomp and circumstance at the university they chew gum here they pick noses there they cross legs whisper laugh don’t wear socks here we’re favored with song medleys involving bunny ears teapot motions I tell my friend sam who’s night man at a kennel he says we have graduation too with caps and gowns tailored to the bassetts and bloodhounds dachshunds and dobermans they carry their diplomas in their teeth and wag their tails through slitted material but I’m afraid some of them have to repeat obedience school
