Inspiring creativity

By Anita Stienstra

Local artists, poets and musicians are featured Wednesday, Aug. 29, during what should be an inspiring and entertaining evening of performances at Prairie Art Alliance Gallery II, south side of Old State Capitol Plaza. Rub elbows with some of Springfield’s most talented folk from Springfield Poets and Writers, Prairie Art Alliance and the area music scene. Listen to a host of poets read their original poems, artists describe their work, and the spectacular singer/songwriter Josie Lowder and classical guitarist Hugh Moore performing. This event, where art inspired art, is in coordination with the Prairieland Compassion Network during its Year of Compassion. These groups hope to foster understanding and compassion through the arts. Art, poems and songs will be on display through Sept. 27 at Gallery II with an opening art reception on Sept. 7 from 5-8 p.m.
