Fit for a kid

By Anita Stienstra

Looking for an activity for your younger ones this weekend? Put on those sneakers and join generation Healthy (genH) Coalition, The Parent Place, American Cancer Society, St. John’s Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s Cares for Kids at the Route 66 Kids Walk/Run/Roll and Health Expo. The free program at the Hope Picnic Shelter, Southwind Park, makes every kid a winner. Children 12 and under will be led through a variety of exercises to stretch and relax before the race where parents or an older sibling accompanies the child. There’s also healthy snacks, nutrition and physical activity info, a bounce house, obstacle course and more. Register at www.genhkids.org to guarantee a medal and T-shirt for your child, or at 9 a.m. For those who want to help others in the community, bring new diapers for The Parent Place Diaper Pantry.
